Nights at the Circus by Angela Carter
Is Sophie Fevvers, toast of Europe's capitals, part swan ...or all fake? Courted by the Prince of Wales and painted by Toulouse-Lautrec, she is an aerialiste extraordinaire and star of Colonel Kearney's circus. She is also part woman, part swan.
Jack Walser, an American journalist, is on a quest to discover the truth behind her identity. Dazzled by his love for her, and desperate for the scoop of a lifetime, Walser has no choice but to join the circus on its magical tour through turn-of-the-nineteenth-century London, St Petersburg and Siberia.

A vintage book with obvious wear. Has some obvious damage to the cover, including a fair amount of creasing on the front cover, some scuff marks, patches of discolouring on the back cover, and a small patch of the cover is missing on the back and spine, which isn't too obvious, but integrity still intact. No writing in margins, and no underlining or highlighting of text. Some minor creasing at the beginning of book, but no missing pages or anything that would compromise the legibility or understanding of the text. An old and worn, but still a clean, solid, and readable copy.
